The Chief of Army of the Australian Defence Force, Lieutenant-General Angus Campbell, inspected a guard of honour at the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) yesterday.

His trip to Singapore is part of an introductory visit that started on Thursday and ends today.

Yesterday, he called on Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen at Mindef, as well as the defence chief, Major-General Perry Lim, and the army chief, Brigadier-General Melvyn Ong. Mindef said Lt-Gen Campbell's visit underscores the close and longstanding defence relations between Singapore and Australia.

The two countries' armies will be working together to further strengthen bilateral defence ties and explore new initiatives for military training and cooperation.
