Auction organised by SPH unit raises $32,000 for charity

A colouring sheet featuring Gardens by the Bay has fetched $20,000 at a "silent auction" which closed at 5pm on Saturday as part of efforts to raise funds for the President's Challenge.

The highest bidder was NTUC FairPrice Foundation.

Organised by the Chinese Media Group of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), the silent auction also raised donations from members of the public who did not participate in the auction, bringing the tally to $32,000.

Those who wanted to take part in the auction had contacted SPH's Chinese Media Group earlier through e-mail or phone.

The group has raised nearly $240,000 through various fund-raising efforts for the President's Challenge, such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Charity Cup Basketball Tournament.

Mr Seow Choke Meng, business consultant of SPH's Chinese Media Group, said he was "very encouraged by the kind-hearted souls who supported the silent auction and President's Challenge 2016".
