Annual resource sharing session for schools starts

The Ministry of Education (MOE) launched its annual ExCEL Fest event at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) College Central on Friday. The two-day event allows schools from different levels to get together and share their initiatives and programmes.

This year, there are 55 exhibitions by primary, secondary, and post-secondary education institutions.

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, who graced the event, said in his opening address that more than just understanding the needs of their students, good schools are those that "bring the whole education system forward". "Instead of competing with one another, they support our larger school system by generously sharing and collaborating with others," he said.

Last year, the Ministry launched the Innovation Adoption Platform, which works like a marketplace for schools to view and and understand unique programmes offered by various schools. The platform encourages schools to adopt projects from across clusters and zones. The event is open to the public on Saturday. It will feature 95 sharing sessions by teachers and 25 seminar talks by senior educators and invited speakers. Admission is free.
