A member claiming to be from international hacktivist group Anonymous has demanded the release of five men arrested for vandalising a wall at *Scape in Orchard Road.
The supposed member had on Jan 16 posted a "press release" on Pastebin, a website for sharing text files, which called for the public to "tweet storm" on Twitter accounts @govsingapore and @MFAsg run by the Singapore Government.
The post also urged the public to send e-mail messages to Law Minister K. Shanmugam to explain to him why civil disobedience should never be met with corporal punishment, and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to ask him to take an interest in seeing that justice prevails.
The tweet storm, organised to take place on Wednesday, did not seem to have taken place. Even if it had, an Infocomm Development Authority spokesman said: "The tweetstorm will not affect Government network infrastructure."
The public is advised not to be alarmed should they notice any unusual activity on the Government's social media channels.
