Air quality in good range despite noticeably hazy skies

Air quality in Singapore remains within acceptable levels despite the visibly hazy skies on Tuesday.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) at noon on Tuesday said the the PSI across the island ranged from 35 to 41, which falls within the "good" range. A PSI reading exceeding 100 is deemed unhealthy.

The NEA said last Friday that haze is expected throughout this week due to prevailing winds from the south-west and west carrying particles from fires in Sumatra.

Earlier this month, Singapore also experienced haze because of hot spots in Myanmar, Thailand and Laos, which were experiencing their dry season.
