Air Force to rehearse for NDP 2015 from Wednesday; SAF to hold military exercises

SINGAPORE - The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), which is putting up an aerial display at this year's National Day Parade, will be carrying out rehearsals islandwide at the following times:

- May 27 and June 2, 9, 16: 10.30am to 12.30pm

- June 20, 27 and July 4, 11, 18, 25: 5pm - 7.15pm

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has also advised the public to keep clear of certain areas as it conducts a range of military exercises from Monday.

These will be held in Seletar, Marsiling, Jalan Bahar, Neo Tiew, Lim Chu Kang, Jalan Kwok Min, Tuas, Upper Jurong, Hong Kah, Ama Keng, Bedok Jetty, Kranji, Lentor, Simpang, Sembawang and Mandai, from 8am on May 11 to 8am on May 18. Blanks and thunderflashes will be used, said the Defence Ministry in a statement on Monday.

The SAF will also conduct live firing exercises in the Pasir Laba (Safti) live firing area during that period. Sea vessels and crafts sailing through the western Johor Straits during that time are to keep within the 75m navigable sea lane and not to stray into the live firing boundary, Mindef said in its statement. Live ammunition and flares will be used.

Meanwhile, RSAF will also be conducting live firing exercises around Pulau Sudong, Pulau Pawai and Pulau Senang from 7am to 11pm daily from Monday to Friday this week, and from 8am to 1pm on Saturday. Flares will be released during the night firing.

The three islands are proclaimed manoeuvring and firing grounds. The public is advised to keep clear of these islands. They are also advised to stay clear of the prohibited waters off Changi Naval Base and Tuas Naval Base.
