SINGAPORE - About 800,000 Singaporean households in Housing Board flats will receive a total of $100 million worth of Goods and Services Tax Voucher - Utilities-Save (GST Voucher - U-Save) rebates next month.
The rebate is a component of the permanent GST Voucher scheme, designed to help lower- and middle-income Singaporean households with their living expenses. It is given out over four payments per year. A one-off Special Payment was also announced earlier this year, with those in smaller flats receiving more.
Depending on their flat type, each eligible Singaporean household will receive up to $195 in GST Voucher - U-Save and Special Payment next month, said the Ministry of Finance in a statement on Tuesday.
Those living in one and two-room HDB flats can offset up to eight months of utility bills on average with the GST Voucher - U-Save and Special Payment, the ministry added.
