90 kickstart Our Singapore Conversation series on education at Anderson JC

More than 90 people gathered on Saturday morning to kick off the second phase of the Our Singapore Conversation dialogue series.

The latest session, held at Anderson Junior College in Ang Mo Kio, was focused on education and examined key issues such as stress and the excessive focus on examinations and grades, as well as social mobility and inclusiveness.

Two-thirds of the participants at the four-hour session organised by the Education Ministry, were parents with school-going children.

Divided into ten groups, the participants touched on matters such as teaching children relevant skills for life, character-building and the importance of education as a social leveller.

Also present was Senior Minister of State for Law and Education, Ms Indranee Rajah, who moved from group to group to listen to the different discussions.
