9-year-old girl taken to hospital after 7 vehicles collide along the PIE

SINGAPORE - A nine-year-old girl was taken to hospital after a seven-vehicle chain collision along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on Tuesday (June 27).

The collision involved a van, a lorry and five cars along the PIE towards the airport, the police told The Straits Times.

They were alerted at 1.42pm and the girl was taken conscious to KK Women's and Children's Hospital.

ST understands that she was in the last vehicle, a car, in the chain collision.

The collision also resulted in a traffic jam that lasted for at least an hour, with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) first mentioning the accident in a tweet at 2.15pm.

It said the accident occurred after Stevens Road Exit, and there was congestion till Lornie Road. The heavy traffic continued up till at least 2.50pm, LTA said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
