SINGAPORE - A 50-year-old woman died after falling from her fifth-floor flat in Jurong West on Monday morning.

Ms Lee Ha Choo was apparently hanging her clothes out to dry when she fell at Block 751 in Jurong West Street 73.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received a call for help around 8am. Ms Lee was found unconscious at the foot of the block. The SCDF sent her to the National University Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Chinese evening newspaper Shin Min Daily News reported that Ms Lee, who was 1.55m tall, had two sons, aged around 30 and 15.

Her elder son told Shin Min that his mother was using an automatic hanging rack and was going to hang the clothes outside when the incident happened. He did not know how she fell. The rack was faulty and he had intended to replace it in the next few days, he added.

Police are investigating the unnatural death.
