5 'parks' to check out on Park(ing) Day this Friday: From PokeShelter to free haircuts for seniors

SINGAPORE - As part of the International Park(ing) Day movement, 78 parking lots across the island will be transformed into 52 temporary public spaces on Friday (Sept 16), from a spa to a PokeShelter. Here are five of the highlights:

1. Streetside Spa

Located at: Telok Ayer Street (Telok Ayer)

Open: 11am - 6pm

What it is: A park which pokes fun at expensive spas in Singapore, with three stations using everyday items to recreate a free relaxing spa experience.

2. An Alternative Street

Located at: Lim Liak Street (Tiong Bahru)

Open: 9am - 8pm

What it is: Experience walking and cycling along a redesigned street in virtual reality.

3. PokeShelter

Located at: Sam Leong Road (Jalan Besar)

Open: 12pm - 7pm

What it is: Inspired by 'Pokemon Go', this park is a Pokeball Shelter where 'Pokemon Go' players can take a break.

4. The Coffee Journey

Located at: Sam Leong Road (Jalan Besar)

Open: 11am - 6pm

What it is: A fusion of the traditional kopitiam and the modern hipster cafe.

5. Free Haircut

Located at: Jalan Tampang (Sembawang)

Open: 6pm - 9pm

What it is: Free haircut for seniors.
