SINGAPORE - A 32-year-old man has been arrested for breaking into a unit and stealing four birds worth about $2,000.
The police received a report of a break-in at a shop along Sungei Tengah Road on Saturday (May 13).
The stolen birds, which The Straits Times understands are song birds, were recovered after officers from Jurong Police Division arrested the suspect along Potong Pasir Avenue 1 on Wednesday (May 17).
If convicted of housebreaking and theft by night, the man can be jailed up to 14 years and fined.
On May 8, another man whom ST understands had stolen birdcages with live birds in them was arrested for theft, after attempting suicide in a five-hour stand-off with police.
