SINGAPORE - Almost 300 Marsiling residents had breakfast together with their families and neighbours at the void deck of Block 16 Marsiling Lane on Sunday (Nov 6).

Residents had a morning workout, after which they were treated to a meal of lontong and sayur lodeh at the event. They later enjoyed a mass balloon sculpturing session.

Needy residents also received goodie bags prepared by the Marsiling Citizens' Constulative Committee and lunch, contributed by charity Willing Hearts.

The breakfast was the second in a series of such events, organised on a monthly basis by the Marsiling Women's Executive Committee and the Marsiling Zone 2 Resident's committee.

The event was attended by Member of Parliament for Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC Madam Halimah Yacob, who said she hoped it would bring residents together.

"People tend to be segregated and isolated in their own homes," said Madam Halimah, who is also Speaker of Parliament. "This is an opportunity for them to bond and get to know each other better."

Mr Rashidy Jais, who attended the breakfast together with his wife and three children, said he appreciated the opportunity to bond with his family and get to know his neighbours.

Said the 39-year-old bus driver: "I am always busy with work, so this is my time to spend with my family."
