SINGAPORE - A second vending machine cafe at an MRT station has been launched in Singapore, this time at Lakeside, serving up dishes such as fried carrot cake, Hainanese chicken chop and Spanish seafood paella.
The cafe, which is almost twice the size of the first one set up at Ang Mo Kio MRT Station last Tuesday (June 13), is open from 7am to 11pm daily.
Housing six vending machines, the new Chef-in-Box VendCafe was launched on Thursday (June 22) and has more than 90 food and drink options priced up to $6.
On the menu are dishes from various countries - Japanese onigiri, Thai prawn curry and green curry, and different versions of Spanish paella. However, none of the dishes are new or exclusive - all of them can be found at the Ang Mo Kio outlet as well.
The dishes are produced fresh daily by chefs, and the meals are replenished twice a day, said Chef-in-Box VendCafe in a statement.
The first VendCafe was opened by operator JR Vending at a Sengkang Housing Board void deck last August.
