A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a woman on a bus. On Tuesday at about 10.15pm, a 24-year-old woman was onboard a public bus travelling along Tampines Expressway when the man who was seated next to her touched her right thigh.

When the man alighted at a bus stop along Pasir Ris Drive 3, the victim followed him and called the police. Officers from Bedok Police Division arrested the suspect.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. If convicted of outrage of modesty, he faces up to two years in jail, fine, caning, or any combination of the punishments.

The police in a statement on Wednesday advised women to be alert and attentive to their surroundings, especially when it is crowded on public transport.
