SINGAPORE - Civil servants from the Ministry of National Development and its agencies were presented awards at the ministry's National Day Awards investiture on Friday.

Recognised for their contributions to shaping and supporting public policy, the 140 officers received commendation, efficiency and long service medals from National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan at the MND Auditorium at Maxwell Road.

One of the recipients was Mr Thomas Yee Chung Yao, 46, deputy director of the National Parks Board's Park Connector Network.

Mr Yee, who has been with NParks for close to 20 years, received his first commendation medal for helping to plan and develop more than 230km of Park Connectors here.

"The network allows people to be more connected," said Mr Yee, who himself cycles on the connectors and roads about four times a week.

"Seeing other cyclists and joggers use it every day, I feel a sense of accomplishment."
