World Cup qualifiers at Marina Bay?
IT IS good to hear that the Marina Bay floating platform has been fitted with artificial turf to host football matches. But why wait till after the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix to do so?

There are two World Cup 2010 qualifying matches the Lions will play in June. We have a reasonable chance to make it past the group stages, and a 20,000-strong crowd could make a positive difference when we meet Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.

Given that a mere 6,000-plus supporters showed up to watch Singapore beat Lebanon, a city venue in subsequent matches would entice more Singaporeans to come cheer on the Lions.
