Cabs: Offer both sizes and let clients decide
I SUPPORT the suggestion 'Introduce smaller taxis to replace fuel-guzzling ones', by Mr Jose Darwin Lim (April 3). In a small country like ours, we do not need high-capacity taxis as we travel short distances.

We can offer small and big taxis and let the customer choose. Many countries in Asia offer other alternatives to regular taxis and at a lower cost, like the 'auto' in India and the 'Tuk-Tuk' in Bangkok.

I also suggest that taxis be fitted with a navigation system to avoid passengers complaining that a taxi driver has overcharged, or has taken an allegedly longer route to reach the destination.

It should be made mandatory for the taxi driver to set the navigation system after he activates the meter.
