Items from S'pore Mint tarnished

I BOUGHT four miniature keepsakes in the form of pineapples from the Singapore Mint at its annual fair in Suntec City two years ago. I was surprised to note that these plated items are now tarnished and have turned greenish, even though they were kept dry in a display cabinet.

When I brought this matter up with the mint, I was told there is nothing it can do.

As I have bought several items from the mint since 2005, I am now concerned about the state of other items I bought last year, such as the 12 Chinese zodiac animals display set.

I trusted the quality of the mint and chose to buy only from its appointed centres, but now I doubt I am getting my money's worth.
