DBS and POSB merger: Why still no shared system?
| I LINKED my DBS credit card to my POSB savings account for convenience and to avoid carrying one more card in my wallet. It all started when I forgot my personal identification number (PIN) and went to POSB Bras Basah branch to reset it, only to be told I could not do so because I carry a DBS credit card and would have to do it at a DBS branch.
My question is, the two banks merged so long ago, so why are there still two different systems? Subsequently, I went to DBS Raffles Place branch to change my PIN, only to receive very poor service from a trainee who obviously did not know what was going on. My question is, how can DBS allow someone who is obviously not trained to be in the front line? I spent one hour there waiting for her to run around and ask her colleagues who were obviously busy with the lunchtime crowd. The worst thing is, it has been two months and I have not received my new PIN. I called the DBS hotline to be attended to by an officer from the credit card department who said she would help me cancel my existing credit card and issue a new PIN. She said my case would be treated as a priority. It has been another month but I have not seen my new credit card. The bank needs to improve its customer experience to stay ahead of the very competitive banking landscape, where foreign banks have put in a lot of money and resources to fight for the consumer's wallet.
