Steps taken to provide barrier at stage's edge
| I REFER to the letter, 'No clear sign to warn of stage's edge'' (ST, Feb 7), by Mr David Soh Jin Hoe.
We have informed the letter writer that some preventive measures had been taken in the past to avoid any accident from taking place. The central stage circumference was painted yellow to warn people about a difference in level and the ceiling lights are also lighted during the night. Secondly, potted plants were placed along the circumference to deter anybody from walking through. However, we have come to realise that the plants were removed some time ago. So we have replaced them with 20 new potted plants, to provide a safety barrier. We did not put up permanent bollards or barricades as they would hinder and mar the aesthetic appearance when activities or events are held on the central stage. We thank the letter writer for his valuable feedback. Should there be any further clarifications, we can be contacted on 64530511. Andrew Ng | |
