Scrap ARF, road tax, hike ERP
THE ARF will be cut by 10 points from March and road tax decreased by 15 per cent in July. However, the ERP rate will be increased.

To be effective, the ARF and road tax should be scrapped, like in France, and the ERP raised to, say, $10 per entry. In this way, car owners would think carefully before they decide whether to drive or take the MRT.

Currently, having paid a high price for a car and road tax, it does not matter if they have to pay $1 to pass a gantry.
