Any recourse for those who settled with Odex?
AS A neutral observer of the Odex debacle, I wonder whether there is any legal recourse for people who have settled with Odex, considering that it was not the rightful party to petition for the names of those who allegedly downloaded Japanese animated cartoons illegally.

If there is, does Odex face legal repercussions for overstepping its rights as a mere distributor, and for chasing after and demanding damages from alleged downloaders?

Overzealous efforts by certain companies to stamp out what they see as the reason for their decreasing sales, without the proper legal backing, should not be encouraged in our society.
