SAND FROM TRUCKS GETS IN HIS FACE

I RIDE a bike and had the misfortune of getting stuck behind a truck carrying sand twice recently. These trucks usually have a partially open hatch. This causes grains of sand to fly onto vehicles behind the trucks.

For a biker, this is especially troublesome as the sand flying into the body and face at high speeds can be pretty painful. It poses a danger to bikers. Are there any rules prohibiting the carrying of sand in an open truck?

HAVE CABBIES ISSUE RECEIPTS

GIVEN the increased complexity in calculating taxi fares, isn't it about time that it was made compulsory for cabbies to provide a receipt with every journey, as is done in some major cities in China?

This would help to avoid confusion for tourists, spot errant drivers and make it much easier to trace phones and other items left in a taxi.

RECONSIDER RADIO AND TV LICENCE FEES

I WONDER why it is still necessary to pay radio (for the car) and TV licence fees when almost all mobile phones now come with the radio function, and some models can receive TV images under certain subscription plans.

HORROR SCENES ON ORCHARD ROAD

RECENTLY, while waiting to cross Orchard Road/Orchard Boulevard, I was bombarded by the sound and sight of people screaming, blood spurting and splattering, people being slashed at with a huge sharp knife, wrists being cut off and a general gruesome scene.

This was being shown on the large video screen at Shaw Towers, where Lido movie theatre is.

Could the authorities please explain why this kind of graphic violence is allowed to be shown in a public place? This is a public place where many families with children walk and seeing and hearing (it is extremely loud) this violence is disturbing.
