Commuters who travel by MRT can find multilingual station signs in all important areas, such as:

Station entrances;

Fare charts;

System maps on the concourse and platforms; and

Single-route maps on the platforms and along the platforms.

These signs provide Chinese and Tamil translations only as the Malay alphabet is based on the Latin or Roman alphabet, which is the same as the English language.

As the station names are actual location names common to both English and Malay applications, they are not translated into Malay.

The MRT signage system aims to help commuters navigate the MRT system regardless of their literacy level or language proficiency.

The signage system is not only multilingual, but also uses colours, numbers, alpha-numeric codes and a number of international standard pictograms.

While the existing system is clear and comprehensive, we are constantly looking at ways to make the public transport network more accessible and convenient for commuters.
