Overhead bridges tough climb for many
| THE Building and Construction Authority has been urging the HDB and town councils to create a barrier-free environment for the disabled and the elderly.
But what about the long flight of stairs which makes overhead bridges inaccessible to both the elderly and the disabled? Most overhead bridges do not have escalators and there are no pedestrian crossings within 500m. Even able people with weak knees find it hard to use some of them. Classic examples are the overhead bridges outside Lakeside MRT station and Geylang East polyclinic.
