Auto opt-out protects patrons' privacy in draw
I REFER to the letter, 'No privacy of personal data in draw' by Mr Vernon Shen Jialiang (ST, Dec 28).

The privacy of our shoppers is always held in high regard and respected at all times. We would like to reassure Mr Shen his personal particulars will be used only in the online lucky draw he participated in and not for any future marketing purposes.

Customers who choose to be included in our marketing database, so as to receive future marketing and promotional information, have to fill in a hard copy lucky draw form to give their written consent. In the online lucky draw, the system has been programmed to automatically opt out all shoppers from receiving any of our future marketing and promotional information, unless the shopper specifically asks to be put on the mailing list.

We hope this clarifies and assure Mr Shen the privacy of his personal particulars has not been compromised.
