Claim against foreign driver via own lawyer
I REFER to the letters by Mr James Yip and Mr Tan Kai Ching on accidents involving foreign vehicles.

The General Insurance Association of Singapore would like to advise motorists who had encountered an accident with foreign vehicles in Singapore that the first recourse is to pursue a claim against the owner/driver of the foreign vehicle through the motorist's own lawyer.

The motorist may, as an option, claim under his own policy. However, this course of action may impact negatively on his insurance policy's terms and conditions at the next policy renewal.
