Drivers, don't make it easy for car hijackers
| I REFER to the report, 'Neighbour claims man was mentally ill' (ST, Aug 9).
I cannot help but feel that the driver of the Premier taxi that was hijacked recently inadvertently contributed to the chances for such an incident through a negligent act. Cabbies, and the driving public in general, should not leave their vehicles unlocked with the engine running, even if they are away for only a short time. I have seen drivers do this on many occasions. They are putting their vehicles at risk of hijack and also polluting the air with their engines running. I suggest that the public transport companies such as SMRT Corp and ComfortDelGro remind their drivers to stop this practice.
