Checks stepped up to ensure correct mail delivery
I REFER to Mr See Geon Hwee's letter, 'Misdelivery puts credit-card details at risk' (ST, Aug 1).

SingPost takes a serious view of service lapses and misdelivery as mail integrity and security are our utmost concerns. We apologise for the misdelivery and have since stepped up daily field inspections by our inspectors of post to ensure that our postmen are performing their deliveries diligently.

While we have in place various systems and processes to ensure accurate deliveries, this 'last mile' in the entire mail process is still largely labour-dependent and hence may be subject to some degree of human error, which we are mindful of minimising.

In addition to the stringent internal and external independent audits to ensure that we meet delivery standards, we set up a task force recently to implement tougher measures to keep misdelivery to a minimum.

As regards the non-receipt of mail, other factors may contribute to 'undelivered mail', including incorrect or incomplete addresses. For such cases, SingPost will do its best to deliver the mail, failing which it will be returned to the sender, if there is a return address.

We thank Mr See for his feedback which will help us improve our level of service.

For any other feedback on our mail-delivery services, members of the public can call our hot-

line 6845 6210 or e-mail singpost@singpost.com.
