Gore, violence toned down without hurting story line
I REFER to the letter, 'Have dedicated channel for adult themes' (ST, June 16), by Dr Wong Jock Onn.

The movie Skeletonman, which was telecast on June 14 at 7.45pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 5, contained strong violence and gore.

However, we found that with carefully-executed edits, the gore and violence could be suitably toned down without compromising the story line.

With the necessary edits, the title was also within the guidelines for prime-time telecast.

We wish to assure our viewers that we give careful consideration to the entertainment value of all our programmes after they have been edited for telecast.

If a title, due to thematic or censorship issues, is found unsuitable for prime-time telecast, we will ensure that it is appropriately scheduled in a later night slot, whereby viewers' enjoyment of our programmes will not be compromised.

We thank Dr Wong for his feedback.
