Junta, not the cyclone, Myanmar's bigger problem
AFTER the recent turn of events, it is extremely ironic that the Myanmar junta that should have been the cure is ironically a greater crisis compared to Cyclone Nargis.

Reports of the junta obstructing foreign aid, using this crisis as a platform to solidify its power as well as siphoning off foreign aid received rather than to alleviate the suffering of the people is extremely ridiculous. In fact, their actions are unbecoming of leaders. Governments are meant to serve the people, yet, in Myanmar, the opposite is true.

I can drone on about what good governments are but there is no point. The fact is, it is our responsibility as fellow human beings to stop this suffering from continuing. Cyclone Nargis is actually the least of our concerns as compared to the more permanent problem of the junta.
