More trains needed on Expo route
| WHILE it is encouraging to know that SMRT is increasing the frequency of trains during peak hours to ease human traffic and waiting time, it appears the Changi Airport-Expo route has been overlooked. During peak hours train frequency on this route averages about eight to 11 minutes.
It is understandable that SMRT may be more focused on ensuring that commuters in the Central Business District get to work on time, but there are also many who work near Changi Airport, Expo and in particular, Changi Business Park. In view of the low frequency, trains serving this route are usually packed. The situation is made worse when big conventions, warehouse sales, public examinations and exhibitions are held at the Expo. SMRT should consider increasing the frequency of trains serving this route, especially during peak hours. Chuah Teong Lee | |
