McProblem - delivery riders
| OTHER than having to deal with ruthless two-wheel peddlers chasing down pedestrians on pedestrian walk paths, we in Pasir Ris housing estates now have to deal with another type of high-power commercial motorised bikers.
I live in an HDB block overlooking the open-air car park behind the Elias Mall at the corner of Elias Road and Pasir Ris Drive 3. Since the McDonald's outlet started catering for home deliveries, we now have at least five bikers zipping in and out of this car park daily. These McDelivery riders break traffic rules constantly - not stopping when turning out from the driveway in front of Block 601 into Pasir Ris Drive 3 and making illegal U-turns using the pedestrian crossing on Pasir Ris Drive 3 in front of the community centre. They also zip here and there at high speed, ignoring the safety of others. This happens even around midnight, after the Elias Mall closes and the driveway is pretty dim. One should not wait till a fatal accident occurs before something is done. Chue Choon Wai | |
