Curtin University's plans here - let there not be a repeat of the UNSW saga

I WAS apprehensive when I read the article that Curtin University is setting up a campus here in Singapore, 'Curtin Uni to set up campus here' (March 26). I am sure Singaporeans have not forgotten the debacle surrounding the demise of the University of New South Wales last year. It was a bitter pill for many to swallow.

Will history repeat itself? Only time will tell. Let us be sure that this time round, both local and foreign students will not suffer the same consequences that others have when UNSW went under water with too much financial liabilities. The ministries looking into their proposal will hopefully learn a lesson or two from the past. History cannot repeat itself again for the good of all.
