SMRT making Choa Chu Kang station more pedestrian-friendly
I REFER to the online letter, 'How to make CCK MRT Exchange more friendly for users' (March 7) by Ms Evelyn Ho. In developing Choa Chu Kang Xchange to provide commuters with lifestyle conveniences, SMRT also constructed more covered links and pedestrian-friendly walkways to make it easier for people to access the station and bus interchange.

A previous green area between the bus interchange and station was transformed into a spacious plaza and sheltered walkway. Part of this sheltered walkway has a 10-metre wide connection with a ramp to provide wheelchair and pram access. Commuters can walk around with comfort and make seamless transfers when taking trains and bus. The path from the bus interchange to the MRT station that the writer referred to was opened up to provide access to the temporary toilets that were put in place during renovation works. We will be closing access to this route by the end of this month as the temporary toilets have been removed. We will consider the writer's suggestion to relocate the post box and thank her for sharing the feedback.
