Beware this restaurant, vegetarians
THIS was a first-hand experience at lunch-time on March 10 when I walked into the 'express' counter of KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell in Shaw Center at Orchard Road to order a takeaway bean burrito.

As I waited while it was being prepared, I saw the handler accidentally load a heap of chicken pieces onto the burrito. When I alerted the cashier who corrected the handler, the latter merely removed the chicken pieces, tossed them in the bin, reloaded the burrito with the beans and used the same gloves to prepare the burrito for me. I lost my appetite for not only lunch but the whole day!

I can understand it if the restaurant made a mistake with my order. But it is inexcusable to compound the mistake by giving me my order contaminated. This may seem trite for some people. But it is disgusting for those who are vegetarian.

If I had not seen what happened to my order, I would have unsuspectingly consumed a meal that is against my beliefs. Shouldn't Kentucky Fried Chicken educate their staff properly? Or are consumers to accept any standard of hygenie, food quality and ethical considerations the restaurant offers?

What worsened my predicament was the completely nonchalant attitude of the staff which suggests that this may not have been the first and perhaps not the last time. You have been warned, fellow vegetarians.
