The first of the IOC's Olympic Games were the 1896 Summer Olympics, held in Athens, Greece, in recognition of the original Olympic Games which began in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, until AD 393.

The first Winter Olympics took place in 1924, in Chamonix, France.

Singapore will be location for the first Youth Olympic Games.

It will be a historic moment for many things, such as first time in history, first time in Singapore, first Youth Olympic Event, first Youth Olympic Gold Medal, first Olympic Game in South-east Asia, etc.

It appears to be a great challenge for our nation but being Singapore, I believe we will rise to the occasion.
