MRT cabins with facilities for handicapped: Floor signages will help
| IN RECENT years, the MRT has been upgraded with obstacles-free facilities to provide easier accessible routes for the handicapped who take the trains.
Improvements include installing special lifts and toilets in the MRT stations, allocating a spacious area for parking the wheelchair inside the train, etc. However, there is still room for improvement. I would like to suggest that the Land Transport Authority allocate and draw special signages at MRT cabin entrances on the platform. It will be meaningless if the handicapped do not know which cabins are equipped with such facilities while waiting to board the train. A prominent sign on the floor will prompt passengers to give way to the handicapped, especially during peak hours. I hope the LTA will consider this suggestion and provide more thought to the disabled in our society. Tan Wee Kian | |
