Cyclist's tongue-in-cheek response deserves a rejoinder
| WE WERE presented with a bit of humour on the morning of Feb 20 when a reply, to 'Cyclist v pedestrian: whose right of way?' (ST, Feb 20), from 'sadnohadnoh' said: 'Cyclists of course'.
I thank him or her for this bit of light-hearted rejoinder (if it was tongue-in-cheek) to spruce up the morning. This opens up an interesting similarity if we, light-heartedly of course, invoke the doctrine of stare decisis (tongue-in-cheek of course), and claim pedestrians have the right of way along busy Orchard Road, crossing anywhere, anytime, along the vehicle highway. The 'rationale' is if on a 'pedestrian' footpath the cyclist is king, then on a car highway, the pedestrian can be king. 'sadnohadnoh' inserted humour into a posting which is appreciated and shows a class far above abrasive remarks. Dudley Au | |
