Buses sent for thorough cleaning, fumigation after writers' feedback
I REFER to the letters by Mr Keith Tyrone Neubronner (Online forum, Jan 18) and Ms Mansimran Kaur (Online forum, Jan 22) about the cleanliness of our buses.

We are sorry to hear about the writers' unpleasant experience. SMRT Buses has in place a regular cleaning and maintenance programme, whereby our buses are cleaned daily to remove litter and waste. Our buses are also sent for thorough cleaning at least once a month.

Upon receiving the writers' feedback, we arranged for the buses to be sent for thorough cleaning, followed by fumigation. We will certainly step up cleaning efforts on our fleet of buses to ensure that proper hygiene standards are maintained.

We would like to remind passengers not to eat and drink while travelling on our buses, as this attracts pests such as ants and cockroaches.
