Glaring errors in two local dramas
| SOME of my friends have sworn off watching local Ch8 dramas, claiming they are not up to the standards set by Hong Kong or Taiwan productions.
I used to think they are biased and chide them for not supporting local productions, but I am beginning to believe their sentiments may be right after all. In recent weeks, I have noticed two glaring instances of inaccuracies in Ch8 local dramas which eroded their credibility. 1) Zheng Geping plays a rich and powerful underworld chieftain in the recently concluded The Golden Path. For a man of his status, one would expect him to drive a continental marque, but no - in one of the episodes, he was seen driving a beat-up old Nissan Presea. You begin to understand why when, in the next scene, the car was wrecked in a crash. Budget constraints? 2) In the Jan 24 episode of the Kinship, Darren Lim was slashed on the right arm in one of the scenes but, in the next scene, his left arm was bandaged. MediaCorp has done remarkably well through the sheer quantity of local dramas produced to keep Singaporeans entertained. However, in this day and time, they cannot afford to underestimate their viewers' intelligence and powers of observation. Ong Beng Hock | |
