Senior citizen doing his part to show support for bid to host 2010 Youth Olympics
| I FELT very happy and excited after reading the report, 'Youth Olympic host: It's Singapore vs Moscow in final showdown' (ST, Jan 21).
Excited and happy because I had answered the calls of our national leaders that every Singaporean should show support for the bidding of the 2010 Youth Olympics. In my own small way and at the age of 68 years, I wrote and faxed to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and copied to its President, Dr Jacques Rogge, on Oct 29 last year a note to tell them why Singapore deserves to host the Inaugural Youth Olympics 2010. I stated in particular, among many other reasons, that Singapore has been rated very highly in a global survey in delivering on promises and that the whole country, government officials, machinery and its people will be working towards its success. I implore all Singaporeans to show in their own way or rally behind our Government that Singapore indeed deserves to host this Games. Raymond Lo Wan Mou | |
