Getting the elusive gold in soccer in the SEA Games and a medal in the Olympics after 48 years may well be within our grasp
I READ the article, 'Fengshui master says Sports Hub will prosper for 100 years' (ST, Jan 21), with interest.

Master Chong, the renowned geomancy expert, was consulted to fine-tune the design of the new sport venue.

According to him, the dome-shaped stadium resembling a turtle, which can live to more than a hundred years, strengthens his view on the prosperity for the Sports Hub.

Its round shape also means that good luck will keep coming round.

The stadium's roof, when retracted, resembles the Chinese symbol for yin-yang and epitomises sports for friendship and harmony among participants.

The proximity to water symbolises wealth, and the wind direction blowing from the north-east direction will bring more luck.

His suggestion for planting more trees will not only add greenery to the surrounding areas, but plants also signify life and vibrancy.

Master Chong is also quick to add that success is not dependent on fengshui alone.

Building a sports school and nurturing the young for sporting glory in anticipation of rebuilding a new sports arena augur well for the future of our young athletes.

The Government's keen involvement in and support for sporting activities to attract top international events, create jobs and offer Singaporeans the opportunity to find their niche and passion in sports is a move in the right direction.

It is not far-fetched to dream, but getting the elusive gold in soccer in the SEA Games and a medal in the Olympics after 48 years may well be within our grasp.
