Teppanyaki staff cleaned up and asked for payment while I was still having dinner
| ON OCT 27, I went for dinner at Teppanyaki Express in Food Republic at Wisma Atria with some friends.
When we asked the chef, Mr Alvin Tan, if there was still food left, he grudgingly told us he was out of green vegetables but we could still eat if we wanted to. The chef started setting up the seats in a very rude manner by just clanging the cutleries and dishwares on the table. When the food was served, we found the bean sprouts to be raw, and the meat undercooked. However, since we didn't want to make too much of a fuss about it, we just ate in silence, hoping it was the last issue. Halfway through our dinner, the chef started to clean the table for the night, sprinkling a lot of powder onto the panel, which I can only assume would be washing detergent as he next poured water on it and scrubbed the froth away. This was while we were in the midst of eating, and our dishes were on the silver foils on top of the same cooking panel where he was doing the cleaning. Before we finished our meal, Mr Tan's colleague interrupted us by asking for payment. I have eaten at other Teppanyaki Express outlets before, at Bugis Junction, Tampines Mall and Lot 1 and, frankly, this is the worst experience. We were not only rudely treated, ate improperly cooked food which was topped off with a 'complimentary' serving of washing detergent and then interrupted midway to pay for a dinner I was not even enjoying in the first place. I am really disappointed with Teppanyaki Express' service. Can the management clarify why we were treated this way? Andy Sei Kui Shen | |
