Beware the hidden agenda of others when taking part in petitions against the junta
I AM a Myanmar national working in Singapore for the past few years. I am very worried about the situation in my country.

I hope for the violence to stop because all Myanmar people actually love peace very much. We wish to see everybody happy in Myanmar.

Above all, I believe that they will never go against Singapore laws while residing here.

I read the news that Mr Chee Soon Juan and his friends are calling Myanmar people here to sign the petition against the junta at the embassy. But my friend told me that Mr Chee's petition is not just against the junta but also against the Singapore Government. This makes me wonder why the Myanmar people should sign a petition against the Singapore Government when our problem is in Myanmar?

I would like to inform fellow Myanmar nationals who intend to join any political event to ensure that it is legal and that it has obtained the relevant permits from the Singapore authorities.

I feel great sadness for my native Golden Land and would very much want to alleviate the political situation in Myanmar. However, to get involved in Mr Chee's agenda is not putting Myanmar nationals' interests at heart as there may be a hidden agenda.

To spread the cause for peace in Myanmar, we can pray peacefully for fallen heroes at religious establishments. Even if Myanmar people are seeking help from the Singapore Government and the Singapore people, we should be doing it in ways others than taking part in Mr Chee's activity.

Other events we Myanmar people can do include creating our own petition letter with lawful permission or organising prayer sessions at our religious centres.

I implore all Myanmar people to fulfil the destiny of our Golden Land peacefully.
