Award for torture victim, thanks to Hoh Law Corp and Home
WE THANK the High Court for Wednesday's decision on $584,000 as compensation for torture victim Karunradsa Phoonsawat.

It was, however, not mentioned in your report that the court award handed down would not have been possible for the complainant if she was not provided pro bono legal services by Hoh Law Corporation at the request of our organisation.

Ms Karunradsa Phoonsawat was fortunate to have the support of Home during her long stay in Singapore pending police investigations. The price of justice for destitute migrant workers in our country is prohibitive in terms of costs and time.

Regretfully the accused, a Thai national, has jumped bail and fled the country during the course of police investigations. Ms Phoonsawat would now have to take the High Court decision to Thailand to enforce judgment against the offender.

We wish her all the best in her pursuit of justice.
