Hit by cyclist on jogging path
| DATE and time of incident: June 12 at about 6pm
Place: Telok Blangah Fine weather. Dry ground. Clear visibility. How it happened: I was jogging down a slope without blind corners when I was suddenly hit on the left hind leg by a 10-year-old cyclist speeding down the slope. Fortunately, my feet could hold the grip on the ground otherwise I could have been thrown forward on impact. Had the victim been a three-year-old child, the child would have been thrown more than 10m forward and suffered serious injuries, I too could have suffered fractures (I am 56). Three other seniors also gathered round the boy to reprimand him after they had witnessed the incident. To the MP who had suggested allowing cyclists on footpaths, I have this piece of thought for her: Your suggestion is not a novelty. It could turn out to be a tragedy. Elvin Tan Meng Tee | |
