Farmer creates 400m Statue of Liberty-shaped maze
| LONDON - A BRITISH farmer has created a maze in the shape of the Statue of Liberty in northern England.
Mr Tom Pearcy says he cut the maze's outline in a field near York and used more than a million maize plants to create the intricate pattern within. The maze's outline is 10 times the size of the iconic statue at 400 metres long. Mr Pearcy said on Thursday he began creating visitor attractions such as the Liberty maze five years ago to bring more people to the countryside after an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease damaged farmers' incomes. His past patterns have included a Viking ship and the Big Ben clock from Britain's Parliament. -- AP | |
