Ship runs aground, holds up Suez Canal traffic
ISMAILIA - A SHIP ran aground in the Suez Canal on Tuesday, holding up traffic through the strategic waterway, a Suez Canal Authority official said.

The 12,000-tonne gross tonnage vessel, named as the Margareta Green, was en route to the Red Sea when its engines lost power, and the captain lost control of the vessel, the official said.

He added that more than 33 vessels have been held up as a result, and that canal authority tugs are currently at work attempting to refloat the vessel. -- REUTERS
